TONIMBUK HOUSE

The homestead of Tonimbuk House offers a perfect opportunity to unwind in rural tranquility.  The house looks north to the Black Snake Ranges and Bunyip State Park with sensational views and silence little changed from when it was built in the 1890s.   A series of walking tracks links the garden with remnant forest and wetland areas and, in recognition of its intrinsic qualities, the property has been accorded "land for wildlife" status.   Kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas and goannas are resident and over one hundred species of birds have been identified.

Accommodation is in the original homestead which retains its Victorian features and character and is furnished with antiques and nineteenth century paintings.  It has heritage listing and is surrounded by traditional gardens with a solar-heated swimming pool and a croquet lawn.

The house consists of two wings, each with two bedrooms, bathroom and lounge, separated by a huge country kitchen and breakfast room.   All four bedrooms contain a queen-sized bed (with cots or single beds being available on request) and enjoy country and garden views.

Bed and breakfast guests are accommodated in one wing with a private entrance and verandah (pictured above).   If the house is being used on a self-catering basis, guests have use of the fully equipped kitchen and laundry and, if required, the second wing.

Provision of food is by arrangement, but a light meal with a bottle of local wine can be waiting for you.
